EVENT: Calgary Agile Methods User Group (CAMUG) #

Tonight, I attended a meeting of the Calgary Agile Methods User Group (CAMUG) at the University of Calgary, where Dr. Robert Walker delivered a talk on AOP entitled, "Aspect-Oriented Programming: Increasing Flexibility or Increasing Headaches?" Overall, the talk was excellent, as Robert did a great job of explaining AOP fundamentals and the problem domain that it was trying to address. I was (however) a bit disappointed by the fact that most of Robert's talk primarily focused on Java-based solutions like AspectJ. Sadly, he did not mention anything .NET related like Aspect.NET or John Lam's CLAW project. At one point, it was even implied that Microsoft had not - until recently - looked closely at this problem domain. (No comment.) Nevertheless, it was a solid presentation by Robert. I was glad to attend and can't wait until the next one.
